Florida Indians: Florida needs to have a page onto it's self. During the ice age Indians flocked to Florida for the same reasons that people do today; warm weather. Florida has a long and rich Indian history. When the first Indians arrived in Florida the state was twice the size that it is today. Lowered sea levels made Florida a very different place. Paleo Indians hunted Mammoths, Mastodons, and other extinct animals. Anywhere you find a freshwater supply; you can bet you'll find Indian artifacts. Agatized coral or what is fossilized Miocene coral was much used for making points & tools. This beautiful gem quality stone is often translucent and comes in many colors from clear, white, yellow, orange, blue, red, and black. Florida Indians crafted from coral some of the finest points ever made.
