Indian Materials: Indians used a great number of materials for there points and tools. Commonly used was chert or flint for points. With skill it could be chipped into sharp spears, arrowheads, and knives. Often Indians lived close to the sorce of stone materials that they used. Stone materials were also traded from differnt areas. Chert comes in a wide varity of textures and colors and even some traslucent types. Indians also used, jasper, quartzite, agate, dacite, hornstone, obsidian, and agatized coral. They as well used other natural materials, such as bone, ivory, wood, horn and even shark teeth. Many tools were made of polished hard stones such as granite, quartz, and slate. Sandstone was also commonly used.
